Tess is an environmental planner with 15-years experience working in RMA planning, environmental management and compliance. She specialises in regional, science-based planning, and combines deep technical knowledge with practical, solution-focused RMA advice. Her career has spanned consultancy, technical leadership, and now independent practice as founder and director of Yellow Door Planning.​

 

Tess works with local government to find solutions for tackling environmental consenting and compliance issues. She has worked on everything from wastewater, water supply, stormwater, earthworks, and flood management. She provides end-to-end solutions, working with clients to develop consenting strategies and secure resource consents, then providing compliance and reporting support once consents are granted.

While local government work is core to Yellow Door Planning, Tess is also available to work with developers and industry clients on RMA consenting and compliance solutions. She's well equipped to advise on resource consenting requirements and technical input required, and manage the consents process throughout. She draws from her close working relationships with a wide range of technical experts. 

 

Tess holds qualifications in law, environmental management and policy. She is a certified RMA Hearings Commissioner and has Level 3 certification in He Papa Tikanga from Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. She brings a calm, competent presence to complex planning processes - always focused on clarity, collaboration, and getting the job done right.
